Last Saturday, Eric “Ravishing Red” Schafer participated in a submission grappling match at Gladiators Fighting 48: Season’s Beatings vs. Jesse “Candy Hands” Veium. Veium, who sports a (12-2) MMA record fights out of the Haus of Combat in Green Bay.
Early in the match the two took turns fighting for position against the fence. Schafer scooped Veium up and slammed his opponent to the canvas. In the process, Veium was able to secure a very, very tight guillotine. Schafer managed to survive the guillotine and immediately passed the guard and went for side control. He immediately went for a kimura shoulder lock and Veium was forced to tap at 1:36 in the first round.
After the match, Schafer announced that he would be fighting in front of the Milwaukee fans on February 16, 2008. The event entitled Gladiators Fighting 49: Warriors Return will feature him in the main event. A press release sent out from Duke Roufus today confirms his opponent to be Rob “The Bullrider” Wince.
